They did it! Yesterday, in Pristina, a move that inflamed tensions in the province, the ethnic Albanian government of Kosovo proclaimed independence , forming a new and troubled country in Europe.
The declaration of independence was met by wild celebrations in Kosovo, violent protests in Serbia and a hastily called meeting of the U.N. Security Council, which failed to take any action. The party was complete, restaurants and bars offering food and drinks for free.
It looks like not everybody is agree with the independence of Kosovo. As expected, Serbia is against this, but in the same time Russia refused to recognize the independence. The separation of Kosovo closes the process of “Yugoslavia breaking” , which started in 1990.
Let’s have a look on how it was yesterday:
The biggest problem is about the other conflicts in the world, just like ethnic one from Serbia (Kosovo province). That’s why many of the states (including Romania, Spain, Georgia, Russia etc.) refuse to recognize the independence.
The history is still writing…Kosovo is the beginning of many other separations . What’s next?
